Frequently Asked Questions

Q.Will my dumpster have a door that swings open?
A.Yes, your dumpster will have a hinged door that will swing open. The door of the dumpster sits at the rear of the truck.
Q.What is the weight of an empty dumpster?
A.An empty dumpster weighs between 3,500 lbs. (10 yard dumpster) and 6,500 lbs. (40 yard dumpster). The weight of the dumpster itself does not affect pricing. Only the weight of the materials placed inside the dumpster affects your pricing.
Q.Does the dumpster have a cover or lid?
A.No, our roll-off dumpster rentals do not include any type of cover or lid. We recommend using a tarp secured with bungee cords to cover the dumpster to help keep out unnecessary weight from precipitation and unwanted debris from nearby residents.
Q.How is the weight of my debris determined?
A.The truck drives on a certified truck scale at the disposal facility where an initial weight is recorded (gross weight). The truck then empties the contents of the dumpster. Next, the truck drives back onto a same scale again that records the weight of the truck and the empty dumpster (tare weight). The difference between the first and second weights (gross – tare) is the weight of the debris in the dumpster. All scales are regulated by the bureaus of weights and measures.
Q.What if the dumpster is overfilled and above the fill line?
A.If debris is overflowing or hanging over the sides of the dumpster, it cannot be safely transported to the transfer station, recycling facility, or landfill. Debris could fall out, causing personal injuries or property damage. Depending on how much debris is involved, the driver may not be able to safely pick up the container, which would result in a trip-fee. In some cases, another dumpster may be required to offload some of the debris to get each container under the legal limit. A Trip Fee ($200 - $350) maybe incurred + the price of a new container, if needed.
Q.What materials may incur extra costs?
A.Mattresses, large/bulky electronic waste items, tires, and items containing freon may incur a per-item fee at the disposal facility. Any per-item fee(s) will be passed on to the customer. The additional Fee items are clearly listed with pricing on our Service Agreement.
Q.What does the price include?
A.The price of a dumpster rental includes a one-time delivery and removal for the selected roll off dumpster, a disposal weight allowance, and a stated rental period. All waste will be disposed of in a fully approved and licensed disposal facility.
Q.How many tons can I put in my roll off dumpster?
A.Department of Transportation regulations limit the weight of any roll off dumpster to approximately 15 tons. Certain materials such as concrete, dirt, brick, drywall, roofing shingles, tree trunks, etc. can be very heavy. Before placing any heavy materials in your roll off dumpster, please review the applicable additional weight charges per the terms and conditions of your agreement and contact us at 978-635-4226 for guidance. General rule of thumb is to fill the dumpster half full if the materials are “very heavy”. Under no conditions should a roll off dumpster be loaded above the fill line, even with light material.
Q.Will I be billed for extra weight?
A.Yes, if the weight of the materials in your dumpster exceeds the included weight quoted in your order confirmation, you will be charged for the additional weight at the specified tonnage rate. We are charged by weight at the disposal facility and we pass along this charge accordingly.
Q.Will the dumpster cause driveway damage?
A.Although driveway damage is unlikely, please be aware of the possibility of damage caused by the weight of the dumpster and the contents placed in the dumpster.  We use extreme caution when placing the dumpster and recommend that you have a minimum of three  4′ x 8′ plywood sheets or a minimum of three  2″ x 4″ boards for our driver to place on your driveway where the dumpster will be placed. The wood will safeguard the driveway.  Please take the proper precautions to protect your driveway!  Please contact us at 978-635-4226 for further guidance and reassurance.

Q.Can my dumpster sit on an incline?
A.For safety reasons, we can’t place roll-off dumpsters on hills. Steep slopes may prevent a successful delivery and make filling your dumpster difficult. If a hill is steep enough that you need to use the parking brake in your car, we won’t be able to set your dumpster there.
Q.Do I need a dumpster permit?
A.Dumpster permits are typically only required when placing a dumpster on public property such as a street, easement, or sidewalk. Please contact your local township office or public works department to determine exact permit requirements for your specific situation. Permit requirements can vary within the same town based on placement specifics!
Q.Can I put the roll off dumpster on the street?
A.Please check with your local municipality. Permits are often required for dumpsters.
Q.How large of a space do I need for delivery of the roll off dumpster?
A.It is recommended to allow 4’ of clearance on all sides of the dumpster to assure adequate clearance. Please refer to our dumpster selection for dumpster dimensions.
Q.Is emergency dumpster delivery available?
A.Emergency services are based upon location and availability. Please call 617-869-3174.
Q.How far in advance do I need to order a dumpster rental?
A.We recommend ordering at least 24 hours in advance to ensure we have a dumpster available. Please note there is no guaranteed delivery time, so if a roll off dumpster is needed first thing in the morning, delivery should be scheduled for the day prior.
Q.When will my dumpster rental arrive?
A.Deliveries can happen between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. We cannot guarantee any requests for a specific time of day, as our driver’s routes are determined by the demand and site locations each day for maximum routing efficiency. If you need your dumpster to get working by a specific time of day, we recommend scheduling delivery for the day before to keep your project moving.
Q.What are my payment options?
A.We accept all major credit / debit cards (Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover). Credit card payment can be made online or over the phone. Payment Terms are available to commercial accounts. Please contact us at 978-635-4226 to make any payments or apply for Terms.
Q.Is it necessary for someone to be there at the time of delivery/removal?
A.It is preferred, but not necessary, to have someone onsite for delivery or removal of the roll off dumpster. The driver will use his best judgment and place the roll off dumpster in the safest accessible area. You will be responsible for all charges involved with relocation of the dumpster should it be necessary. For removal, the customer agrees to provide unobstructed access to the roll off dumpster on the scheduled pick-up day. If the roll off dumpster is inaccessible, you will be subject to a wasted trip charge.
Q.What if I need to change or cancel my roll off dumpster rental order?
A.
You may cancel or change an order by calling us at 978-635-4226 Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm or contacting us via email at [email protected]. Please have your order confirmation number available when cancelling or making changes. A trip fee of $100 to $250 may apply if the driver is already in route.
Q.How do I open my dumpster’s door?
A.Handle Style Door Lock

-Unhook any safety chains from the dumpster

-Remove any safety latches, hooks, or pins from their holders

-Pull “up” on the door handle / lever to release the door
Q.What if I schedule service but it turns out I am not ready upon the driver’s arrival?
A.If service (delivery, removal, switch out, dump & return, relocate, etc.) is scheduled but not performed due to a customer’s onsite or last-minute change request, a wasted trip fee of $100 to $200 (based on location) is typically charged. All service change requests must be made prior to the driver heading to your location in order to avoid wasted trip fees.
Q.What if my dumpster is full and I need another dumpster?
A.
Please call us at 978-635-4226 Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm or contact us via email at [email protected] if you need your dumpster emptied and returned to you. There will be repeat charge equal to the amount paid for your previous dumpster.
Q.How long may I keep the roll off dumpster?
A.Our standard rental period is 7 days. Extended rental fees will apply when keeping your dumpster longer than the included rental period. The included rental period and applicable extended rental fee is always disclosed in our quotes. Be sure to ask about the included rental time and extended rental fees when pricing a dumpster rental! If projects and sites require additional rental times, call and discuss your needs. We will be sure to work with you.
Q.Do I need to schedule removal of my dumpster?
A.
Yes, you need to let us know when to remove the dumpster. We do not automatically remove the dumpster at the end of the included rental period. You can schedule the removal by calling us at 978-635-4226 Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm or by contacting us via email at [email protected].
